Sound Check: Flashback
The men of the Grand Valley band Flashback have full-time jobs outside music, but that hasn’t stopped them from getting together once or twice a month to play in the area.
“This band has become our ‘scratch-the-itch’” musical release, said Flashback member and rhythm/keyboard player Dave Wilkinson.
The band — Wilkinson, Steve Solko on drums, Ted Shook on lead guitar and Michael Williams on bass — has been together off-and-on for more than seven years, performing in the area.
Williams’ jokes that Flashback used to seem like “a semi-house band” at the Boomers location in Main Street because the band performed there so often.
Although Boomers no longer exists, Flashback has found other local venues where it plays its mix of classic rock and other tunes that “people will like,” it is what they “grew up listening to,” Solko said.
The band’s next shows are 5–7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the Palisade Peach Festival and 7–10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Palisade Brewing Co.
