‘St. Patrick’s with the Chorale’ concert coming to Moss center
The Western Colorado Chorale will perform two evenings of traditional and modern Irish music at its “St. Patrick’s with the Chorale” concert.
With debuts and guest musicians, the chorale will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 17–18, in the Love Recital Hall in Colorado Mesa University’s Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St.
Those guest players are from the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and will accompany the chorale in its presentation of the modern classical work “Madison’s Descent” by Irish composer Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin.
The piece is based on the children’s book, “Madison’s Descent: A Child’s Journey” by American author and illustrator Page Allen.
These performances will be the Colorado debut for “Madison’s Descent” and only the second time for the piece to be performed in the United States, according to a news release.
Allen plans to travel from her home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for the concerts, the release said.
Traditional music to mark St. Patrick’s Day, such as “Danny Boy” and “Molly Malone,” also will be featured at the concert as well as works for choir and orchestra by composer John Rutter.
Tickets cost $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s office, 414 Main St., at gjso.org and by calling 243-6787.
