Stage performance ‘Tangents’ to benefit college program
Jeremy R. Franklin has taken it upon himself to help Mesa State College.
Proceeds from his upcoming cabaret show will bring guest artists to campus to work with music theater students.
Franklin has been a lecturer and performer in the music theatre department for the past three years.
His show “Tangents: A Cabaret with Jeremy Franklin” will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 20–21, at the Mesa Experimental Theater in the college’s Moss Performing Arts Center.
Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students and are available before each performance at the box office in the arts center.
Franklin’s cabaret show will include Mesa State pianist Doug Morrow.
Franklin will perform music by Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Alan Menken and others. He will share stories, commentary and song from years past as well as contemporary pieces.
Franklin hasn’t performed since the spring when he played the lead role of Max Bialystock in college production of “The Producers.”
