Symphony finale to feature local soprano

A local soprano will be the guest artist for the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s season finale.

Teressa Winslow is a member of the Western Colorado Chorale, which also will be part of the Saturday, May 1, concert, along with Mesa State College choirs and The Schumann Singers.

The concert is titled “Rutter: Magnificat” after the piece by composer John Rutter.

“John Rutter is my favorite contemporary composer,” said Winslow in a news release. “His harmonies are heavenly and his style is rich with emotion and text-painting.”

The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Junction High School auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St.

A Classical Conversation for the concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the concert hall.

Additional pieces to be performed in the concert are Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis” and Britten’s “Peter Grimes: Four Sea Interludes.”

Tickets are $15, $20 and $25 for adults and $5 for students. They can be purchased at http://www.gjsymphony.org or by calling 243-6787.
