Theater Project to perform ‘Footloose’
Kick off your Sunday shoes and get “Footloose!” with The Theater Project, an adult community theater that presents professional quality theater and music theater performances throughout the year.
It’s staging of the musical “Footloose” will be at 7 p.m. Friday, March 23, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24, in the Grand Junction High School auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St.
Big on sets, music and acting, the cast has more than 50 adults.
“Footloose,” tells the story of Ren and his mother, who relocate from Chicago to a small farming town where a local preacher has banned dancing, according to a news release.
“When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid,” the release said.
The Theater Production of “Footloose” will include the rockin’ rhythms of the movie soundtrack. The single “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, was nominated for Oscar and Tony-nominated awards and sold more than 15 million songs.
The Grand Junction production also will be augmented with dynamic new songs.
Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for students. General admission tickets are available at the door and http://www.Theater ProjectGJ.com. Proceeds go to benefit the Youth Theater Project, a tuition-free theater and dance program for youth in the Grand Valley.
