Violist to perform as CMU

Daphne Gerling, violist

Music has been almost a lifelong component for violist Daphne Gerling, whose musical studies began when she was 4 years old.

Gerling has performed on the viola across South America, Europe and the United States and will play a recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Recital Hall of the Moss Performing Arts Center at Colorado Mesa University, 1231 N. 12th St.

Gerling “is a former faculty member of the preparatory departments at Oberlin (Conservatory) and CIM (Cleveland Institute of Music), and the Shepherd School of Music’s Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Division, where she was a Brown Foundation fellow in viola and early childhood music,” said a news released from CMU.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.
