Water line break forces early release from Central High

Central High School students were dismissed late this morning due to a large water line break on school property.

District 51 spokeswoman Christy McGee said water had to be shut off to the school, impacting lunch service and leaving the school’s bathrooms inoperable.

Students were released beginning at 11:30 a.m. Students who walk or drive themselves home will be allowed to do so, while students who ride the bus will be transported early on a regular route. Parents are welcome to pick their students up.

McGee said the district is working with the Clifton Water District to get Central back up and running as soon as possible, although she didn’t have a more specific timeline than that.
