West Slope brewmeisters on tap for Oktoberfest
MONTROSE — Hold your glass high for a cheer this Saturday for the fifth annual Oktoberfest in downtown Montrose.
The event, organized by the Black Canyon Homebrewers Association, will feature craft beers from breweries scattered all over the Western Slope including Palisade Brewing Company, Steamworks, Ska, Horsefly Brewing Company, Colorado Boy, Ouray and Silverton Brewing Companies.
The event takes place at Centennial Plaza in downtown Montrose starting at 1 p.m. and runs through 7 p.m.
“There will be sunshine all afternoon, food, beer and live music,” said Andrea Hoover, a member of the Black Canyon Homebrewers Association.
“It’s a great chance to taste beer from all over the Western Slope,” she added.
Tickets for the beer tasting are $15 and proceeds benefit the homebrewers association and the Light Gives Heat organization of Grand Junction.
Live music will be provided by the Rusty George Band, Fall Baby and Pineapple Crackers.
Hoover said the festival is a great way for enthusiasts to taste craft beer from smaller breweries that otherwise wouldn’t normally be available.
