Western Colorado under red flag warning
All of southwestern Colorado, including Mesa County, is under a red flag warning today and will be again on Tuesday, as temperatures that could push 100 degrees, dry fuels and windy conditions are making for dangerous fire conditions.
The National Weather Service has issued the warning for a region stretching north to south from Garfield County to the New Mexico state line and west to east from the Utah state line to areas east of Buena Vista and Alamosa.
Forecasters say winds will increase across west-central and southeast Colorado this afternoon, then become more widespread on Tuesday. Winds will be out of the southwest at 15 to 25 mph, gusting to 30 mph, while humidity will range from 8 to 13 percent. Grand Junction’s high today is expected to top out at 101.
