OutFit: Winter pastels

Make the January doldrums brighter with one of the hottest trends: pastels.

A little goes a long way, so do not aim for an overall pastel look, just inject some softness into your winter wardrobe.

Here are some ideas to perk up your ensembles. The key is to offset the light hues with neutrals.

■ Pair a pale peach blouse with black pants and a blazer or patterned cardigan for a style that is simple and sophisticated.

■ Sky blue jeans are a great alternative to basic blues and work with most any top or sweater. Wear them with gray or mocha to keep the look light, or pair with black for a contrasting color block style.

■ Accessorize with a butter yellow scarf or a mint green handbag. These whimsical additions will transition into spring essentials.

Look chic and fabulous in pretty pastel shades, they are the best remedy for bleak winter days.
