Woman who stole from elderly couple sentenced

BOULDER — A 54-year-old woman accused of stealing almost $600,000 from an elderly couple over the span of seven years has been sentenced to five years in prison.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports District Judge Andrew Butler sentenced Michelle Ann Hebert on Friday. She was convicted in December of eight tax-related charges and two counts of theft from an at-risk adult.

According to court records, Hebert met Howard and Charlotte Krasnoff in 2001 when Howard Krasnoff became a patient at a Longmont eye clinic where Hebert was a receptionist.

Prosecutors say Hebert began seeing Howard Krasnoff — a psychotherapist — as a patient and asked him for money, telling him stories about how her daughter was sick. Hebert never paid back the loans.

She also used a credit card belonging to Howard Krasnoff until he canceled the card.
