Youth meets classic as the winner of the 2010/11 Young Artist Competition joins the Grand Junction Symphony for its “Return to The Avalon” concerts.
Fan-Ya Lin, who was born in Taipei, Taiwan, and has studied the piano since she was 4, will perform Mozart’s “Piano Concerto in A Major” during the concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St.
During the March 2011 competition, “Fan-Ya’s performance was so precise, clean and musical that she was a favorite of the judges,” said symphony music director Kirk Gustafson in a news release.
Also on the program for the concerts are Sir Edward Elgar’s “Introduction & Allegro” and Ottorino Respighi’s “Trittico Botticelliano.”
Tickets cost $15–$25 for adults and $5 for students with ID.
