TRAILS
Kokopelli’s Trail: 142 miles of easy to difficult mountain biking extending from the Loma Boat Launch west of Grand Junction south to Slick Rock, two miles from Moab, Utah.
Loops off Kokopelli’s Trail:
Grand Junction Lions Loops: 7.8 miles, starts at parking lot where the road from the Mack Interstate 70 interchange intersects with the gravel frontage road, allow two to four hours.
Mary’s Loop: 12.8 miles, starts at Kokopelli’s Trailhead. Follow the trail of the loop, Kokopelli’s Trail, to a point shy of the weigh station, turn left through the gate and follow the frontage road to a junction at mile 1.2 where the actual loop begins.
Tabeguache Trail: 144 miles of trail extending from the Savano Valley near Montrose to Monument Road near Grand Junction. Curecanti National Recreation Area: Parallels U.S. Highway 50 between Gunnison and Montrose, (970) 641-2337; three lakes on the Gunnison River, Blue Mesa, Morrow Point and Crystal. Visitor centers located in Cimarron, Elk Creek and Lake Fork. Access to Morrow Point Dam is from Cimarron turnoff.
Dinosaur National Monument: Headquarters are two miles east of Dinosaur, (970) 374-3000, quarry is seven miles north of Jensen, Utah, (801) 789-2115. Quarry offers a sandstone cliff with more than 2,300 fossilized bones, the Colorado side offers canyons carved by the Yampa and Green rivers.

White River National Forest: Glenwood Springs, (970) 945-2521, more than 2 million acres containing Aspen, Keystone, Vail, Copper Mountain ski areas. The crown jewels of the region are the Maroon Bells near Aspen and millions of miles of trout streams that wind their way through the region.
