2017 USA Cycling Collegiate and Para Road National Championships

The USA Cycling Para-cycling Road National Championships presented by U.S. Bank features cyclists with a variety of disabilities from around the nation come to Grand Junction for the four day event. Thursday was an individual time trial race at Glade Park. Competitors raced hand-cycles and tricycles on 9K and 18K courses. The collegiate national championships are also in Grand Junction.

In the 2016 death of Bethannie Johnson, District Judge Brian Flynn sentenced two women to 48 years in prison Thursday. Both Shanna Gossett and Rebekah Wallin pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the beating death of the 3-year-old girl.

Trash in the desert on BLM Land

BLM volunteers plan cleanup of trash in the desert along 25 Road north of Grand Junction Saturday. Two roll-off dumpsters and five trailers will be filled with trash by noon and volunteers likely could fill twice as many containers if they were available because of all the junk in the desert, Mike Jones said. Jones is a park ranger for the Grand Junction BLM Field Office.
