1st Choice Real Estate
Nothing is more constant in real estate than change, and 1st Choice Real Estate CO has been feeling the positive changes in the growth of the real estate industry in the Grand Valley.
Joann and Harry Hotimsky of 1st Choice Real Estate believe an agent is expected to have a strong work ethic and knowledge of the market, be competent in identifying the expressed wants and needs of the buyer and seller, quick to identify a situation and act on it, be available to explain and assist in all the pertinent details and provide the service every person deserves.
With the recent increase in real estate activity, 1st Choice Real Estate is making the first expansion to their team in 12 years by introducing Linda Torline to their agency.  In 2002, Linda was the first real estate customer of Joann Hotimsky, a rookie realtor at that time with Monument Realty, Inc.  Together they made an adventure of finding the perfect home and working out all the details of Joann’s first purchase contract.  First customer and contract 15 years ago has now reunited them in new roles.  Linda loved the enthusiasm and energy of that transaction and subsequent rental property transactions over the years; and has now become the first Buyers Agent to join 1st Choice Real Estate.
During those interim years, Linda, who had moved to Grand Junction to be closer to parents, was impressed with the culture of the area in which to raise her two children, Cody and Kyle Elliott, and they are now raising their young families here.
Over the years Linda worked with her husband, Chuck Torline, in buying, selling, and managing their several rental properties while she was also employed as a Production Manager of custom mining ventilation and equipment at Schauenburger.
With a high level of enthusiasm and astute business mind, Linda joins Joann and Harry, eager to assist others in their pursuit of real estate opportunities.  Welcome Linda with a phone call today.
Earlene Hickman joined (Realty World) Monument Realty, Inc. in 1980; and endured through tumultuous years with Black Friday and the bust ravaging the valley and leading to the collapse of the real estate industry in Grand Junction. This boom to bust left Monument Realty reduced from a full staff and 70 realtors to a skeleton staff / management along with 11 realtors.  During this 15 year span, Earlene served in accounting and as co-office manager, became licensed, moved on to become sales manager, and then the big step to managing broker in 1995.
In 2002, Earlene met with Joann Hotimsky during an interview to become a realtor with Monument Realty. Just out of real estate school, Joann was motivated, passionate, and determined.  Another first, Earlene is now Joann’s first manager and mentor.  Within another couple of years Monument Realty sold to new owners; and after six months, Earlene took a break from the real estate community to be at home as a caregiver for parents 24/7 over the next 12 years.
In October of 2005 Harry left the engineering profession to join Joann in real estate.  They decided to strike out on their own as 1st Choice Real Estate and contacted Earlene to serve as their Managing Broker.  She served in this capacity from her home office until she retired in 2010 to handle more hours as caregiver.  Now, 7 years later, Earlene is returning to the team to assist with the required documentation in real estate transactions – the first Transaction Coordinator for 1st Choice Real Estate.
