Ticket issued after crash

Carissa Quarles, 28, of Mack, was issued a summons after one of her four children, none of whom were restrained, was ejected from a pickup during a rollover accident Sunday night on U.S. Highway 6.

Quarles was westbound in her 1994 Toyota pickup around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, and she said she swerved to avoid a deer, overcorrected and drove off the left side of the roadway at mile marker 14, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Scott Simons said.

Quarles’ 3-year-old son was thrown from the truck as it rolled. He suffered a possible skull fracture, Simons said. Three other boys, ages 8, 5, and 21 months, suffered bumps and bruises, Simons said. The boys’ father, a front-seat passenger, suffered minor injuries, Simon said. Quarles was treated for possible cracked ribs.

Simons said Quarles was ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and four counts of failure to provide child-restraint systems.

Truck reported stolen

A vehicle valued at less than $15,000 was reported stolen Monday morning from the 5000 block of Garfield County Road 335 near New Castle, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

• Joyce Linda Godsey, 52, 589 N. 26th St., was arrested Monday on suspicion of eight counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit, seven counts of theft of less than $500, three counts of criminal attempt, two counts of identity theft, one count of false reporting, one count of driving with a suspended license and one count of driving without proof of insurance for her alleged role in lying to area dentists about who she was and/or her medical condition to obtain pain medication.

• A woman reported Saturday she thought she had been drugged. She said she drank some wine at a festival booth Saturday and began to feel ill, which affected her ability to move her arms and legs. The incident was reported in the central part of Grand Junction. There are no suspects.

• Sometime between Sept. 2 and Sept. 21, someone entered a snowmobile trailer parked in the back of a car lot in the 2500 block of U.S. Highway 6&50 and stole tools and other equipment valued at more than $1,000. There is no suspect information, but anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 241-7867.

• Someone stole a bicycle valued at more than $1,000 from a garage in the 2600 block of B 1/2 Road on Monday.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

• Devin Chalice Burton, 18, 602 Bear Valley Court, was arrested Monday on suspicion of assault, violation of bond on a felony charge, resisting arrest, obstruction of a police officer, two counts of third-degree assault and possession of alcohol by an underage person after an alleged fight.
