Clifton vehicle break-ins

Five thefts from automobiles were reported to Mesa County sheriff’s deputies Thursday morning, along with four reports of attempts to steal from other vehicles.

All of the reports came from Clifton in the 400 block of Forelle Street, the 3200 block of Sunray Avenue, the 500 block of Aurora Way and the 3200 block of D 1/2 Road. In all, $2,463 worth of cash and items, a wallet and a screwdriver were taken from vehicles.

A person living in the 400 block of Granby Court reported a person entered her vehicle but took nothing from it. That same was reported by a man living in the 400 block of Flatrock Court. Cars were entered in front of a home in the 400 block of Michael Street. Although nothing was taken from the cars, the homeowners found items not belonging to them in their driveway.

A woman also living in the 400 block of Flatrock Court said the doors on both of her cars were forced opened.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

• A thief removed a guitar from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall at 1404 Ute Ave. while a band performed in the building last year. The guitar, worth more than $1,000, was found Wednesday by one of the band members while shopping at Big J Jewelry and Loan.

• Someone threw a rock through a sign Tuesday at Loco Food Store, 2902 F Road, causing more than $1,000 in damage.

• Peggy Chambliss, 48, was arrested and released with a summons at midnight Thursday on suspicion of causing $100 worth of damage in the 1300 block of N. 13th Street.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

• A woman reported a burglary Thursday at her home in the 2900 block of Parkway Drive. She reported items worth $3,403 were stolen. Deputies found probably cause to arrest two suspects.

• A man reported Thursday that several tools were stolen from his property along Highway 141 in Whitewater over the past several weeks. The value of the missing tools is $300.

• A deputy released a man from a shed at 435 32 Road after the man called for assistance because he had accidentally locked himself in the shed Thursday.
