Man accused of choking wife’s cat

A Fruitvale man has been accused of choking and squeezing his wife’s cat so hard that it defecated, Grand Junction police said of his arrest Thursday.

Edward Peter Kulowiyi, 28, was booked on suspicion of cruelty to animals and harassing communication, both misdemeanors. According to an arrest affidavit, Kulowiyi squeezed and choked the cat and threatened to throw all of his wife’s belongings, including the cat, out the window during an argument.

After the incident ended, Kulowiyi left the home, and police contacted and arrested him while he was walking near Bookcliff Middle School.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

• Merchandise valued at more than $1,000 was stolen Wednesday from a business at Mesa Mall, 2424 U.S. Highway 6&50.

• Items valued at more than $1,000 were taken Thursday from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Golfmore Drive.

• Jacob Daniel Salazar, 18, 7870 Bean Ranch Road, Whitewater, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of distribution of drugs.

• Kyle Elgin Tolman, 57840 P E Road, Collbran, 23, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug possession.

• Joseph Daniel Yoder, 20, 482 Niagra Circle, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, two counts of violation of a protection order, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic infractions.

• Brianne Nicole McNutt, 30, 1671 P Road, Loma, was arrested Friday on suspicion of drug possession, unlawful use of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Cullen Jack Laney, 27, 923 N. 12th St., No. 22, was arrested Friday on suspicion of misdemeanor third-degree assault, tampering with evidence, obstructing an officer and resisting arrest.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

• Justin Delousse Bohannon, 28, 2915 Orchard Ave., No. 11, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of drug distribution, possession of drug paraphernalia and contempt of court.

• Miguel Isreal Galindo, 18, 124 W. Carson Circle, Parachute, was arrested Friday on suspicion of two counts of criminal impersonation and an immigration violation.
