Look out felons: The Dog is in town.
Duane “Dog” Chapman, the star of the popular “Dog the Bounty Hunter” cable-television show, dropped by the Mesa County Justice Center late Wednesday afternoon before embarking on a manhunt for 12 to 14 wanted men.
“Methamphetamine has come to Mesa County, so we don’t like that,” Chapman said, standing outside the courthouse and flanked by excited court-goers.
“It’s kind of like running rampant up here, so we’re here to do what we can do,” he said.
Chapman, who had his bounty hunting crew and a TV crew in tow, said they plan to pick up “some of the top players in the meth world.”
Chief Deputy District Attorney Dan Rubinstein, who accompanied Chapman inside the courthouse, confirmed that “Dog” is working to find at least one wanted man or woman in Mesa County.
“We’re happy we have a professional bounty hunter who can help catch one of our fugitives,” Rubinstein said.
Chapman declined to comment on who asked him and his crew to come here, but called them “law-abiding citizens.”
“We just got here,” he said. “We plan to stay here until our mission is completed. We should take a week to line up like 12 guys.”
“You should just beware there’s a dog out there,” Chapman’s wife and bounty-hunting partner, Beth Smith, said.
Smith said the episode on their work in Mesa County should air about three months after they haul in the suspects.
She said she is familiar with western Colorado because her mother used to operate a bed and breakfast near Salida.

Funny how some things never go away, like the wanna be bounty hunters, far as I'm concerned, you guys are worried cause dog does the job while you guys sit and whine boo hoo,,,, We are so broke lets see what bonds person we can pretend to hunt for today??? Look in who's back yard?? Drug dealing bonds man??Prove that claim cause you are a shame, any bondsman that helps does it because they must care of their community, The Green's feel threatened by Dogs arrival.

You go dog. Its just sad to see bounty hunters talking crap on here because you are doing what they cant. And to the bounty hunters on here saying you clean up the streets, why is crime and drugs higher than ever before? We support you and your family dog

Get out there and clean it up dog. we have needed real help for a long time and you are here. thats awesome I hope you guy's do lots of new episodes so we can watch them all when we are not working. Some people need to shut up and go get a job themselves, but I am thrilled that you are in Mesa county.

joe mike and cherri you are only bounty hunters in your own mind. Ask yourself 1 question. If you are so good then why does the law need to bring a bounty hunter in from hawaii? You complain about not getting paid, dont you secure you bountys? Why is it that bondsman dont pay you? Take a hint you old done and washed up thats why we need dog in town to do your job! If you dont get paid its because you dident do your job. Im sick of people like you crying over this when i think its great dog is here. If your not happy with your job or your not getting paid then get in a new line of work but dont be on here bashing people just because dog is in town. Last i saw you on tv it was at kmart because the guy ran on you and you couldent catch him on your own and needed the cops help, lol.

Come on, who has failed miserably, at bonding and bounty hunting in Grand Junction ??? Who is not licensed??? Their are wanna be bounty hunters here, they have used 4-5 bonds people here in the area and they lie cheat and steal from every one you could possibly imagine, COME ON take off your leather coats hang up the mullet Joe, wanna talk about drugs bondsman and talk smack about every one cause they have been all washed up???? Yeah YOU two know who YOu are??? Talk about wanna be's ???
Hang up the jackets, and cut off the mullet, the smack talk about the bondsman in grand junction colorado we all know who you guys are and give it up you guys could'nt arrest a fly, unless one of us bondsman handed you two the info, cause you two can't even run a skip trace program unless a real licensed person in this business got it goin on for you two.

Funny that some people believe themselves to be bounty hunters in Mesa county, Some of these local complainers are just that. Joe Green and his partner has had their bail licenses revoked for very good reasons and are theifs to boot, they have not worked here for years and have lived with or used at least 4-5 bondsman in the area to get what they need. Beware of wanna be bounty hunters!!!!!
There are alot of them here, I'm a bondsman and have been for many years, I have no problem doing my job, and it's good that Dog is here,good luck to them.
Rumors about the bondsman in this town are just that look at the source, please.
My next question would be has joe ever been in jail????
I know I have never been jailed for anything in my life...which so called bounty hunter has been? Who has no license in Colorado? Who failed miserably at bonding and hunting???? Who failed miserably at a show of their own???? When you see these two they look like dog and beth wanna be's, cut off the mullet and take the leathers jackets off, and know what green's talking gossip about all the bondsman still does'nt gain you two any brownie points in this city.....

even though i agree with most the things people are saying on here, who really cares. Mean joe green you are right about what the da said. That was wrong of him and disrespectful. You too put your life on the line. And why are people even talking about the bondsmans that might of not paid at one time or another? I know some bondsmans in town and they had nothing to do with dog comming here. And as im sure you know first hand joe from being a bondsman at 1 time they do get bad raps and bad names in this town. Most people dont even know them but will talk crap, and im sure you know this joe. I dont know much of the real story like the rest of us on this site but if people want to point fingers at anyone it should be the da and the courts.They should be asking joe for help but they dont, but dont blame dog, the insurence company, or the bondsman if things get a little crazy around here while they are in town. Face it all bondsman have a bad bond know matter how they write it because there are people in the world today that just dont care and will hurt anyone. I have never been in trouble myself but lets face we have a drug problem here and talking all this other stuff about not getting paid or crooked bondsman has nothing to do with this. If we are such dog fans then why are we complaining that he is here?
