Shooting in Pear Park was possibly self-defense

Tuesday, November 03, 2009

Mesa County Sheriff’s Department investigators are exploring self-defense as a possible motive in a Pear Park shooting early Sunday that left one person dead and one person injured.

The agency said Tuesday in a news release that a final decision on charges to be filed, if any, could take several weeks because of the “complexity” of the incident.

Crystal Nash, 42, was shot and killed around 2:20 a.m. in the driveway at 3007 Rood Ave., while a man in his 20s was shot at the same location. He was treated and released Sunday from a local hospital. The Sheriff’s Department has not released his name.

Mesa County Assessor records indicate Nash lived at 438 Colorow Drive, which is across the street from where the shooting occurred.

Neighbors told The Daily Sentinel on Monday that residents at both homes and a man named “Tom” at 3007 Rood Ave., had a history of conflicts with one another.

According to records from the Sheriff’s Department, deputies have been called out once to both homes in the past five years.

The Sheriff’s Department has said a man was detained and interviewed Sunday, then was released.

Is that all some people know what to do is talk about someone else you don't know that's funny what the world has come to. Doesn't the bible say thou sault not judge. I know Crystal and I have no idea want went on that night did she fear for her life do any one of you really know or is that just what you herd because you herd it on the news or from her husband. If she feared him do you think he would tell anyone? No offense to her husband but she didn't always pick the greatest men (sorry Crystal) however, no one knows what went on behind those four walls but her, her husband, and anyone who lived with them. No matter if it was self defense or not the person that pulled the trigger will be punished! If not on earth HE WILL GET HIS!!! And to all that just loves coming on these just making random comments about people you don't know GROW UP!!! I'm sure you have families take care of them instead of making comments into other peoples lives, is it really necessary...

From my understanding, and not from the media either, the police were dispatched to Crystal's residence earlier that morning because their was a party that needed to be quieted down a bit for the neighbors that were trying to sleep. Crystal in a drunken state of mind, decided to attack this problem. A gun was pulled on the shooter, and the shooter shot. I would of done the same thing, sorry. It's funny how the "co-worker of Crystal's husband" seems to know the story, but in an earlier post, it is said that Crystal was afraid for her life because her husband wasn't there so she took her 20 year old son (drinking also?) and her dog over to this guys house? FEAR can make you shoot more than once. Please join me in praying for ALL involved. What a terrible situation to be in and then to make it worse reading some of these postings after the incident which includes someone that is dear to your heart.

EVERYONE AS A VALID POINT, AS SEEN BY THEM. THE ARTICLE AND NEWS, AS ALWAYS, GIVES VERY FEW FACTS, KNOWN OR UNKNOWN. WHICH OF COURSE (INTENDED?) LEADS TO RAMPANT SPECULATION, ACCUSATION, AND JUST PLAIN BS. NO ONE IS ABSOLUTLEY RIGHT OR WRONG. PLAINLY STUPID MISTAKES WERE MADE BY BOTH PARTIES. AND FOR THE RECORD SOME PISTOLS WHEN YOU SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER IT FIRES AND KEEPS FIRING UNTIL OUT OF AMMO. SOMETHING LIKE 14 SHOTS FIRED AT THREE PEOPLE AND ONLY FOUR (UNFORTUNATELY) HIT. IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE A FRIGHTENED OR ANGRY PERSON PULLING THE TRIGGER AND SHOCK OR ADRENILINE FREEZING HIM AND HIS TRIGGER FINGER. THIS IS A TRAGIDY FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED. MY PRAYER GO TO ALL TOUCHED BY IT. WE NEED LESS HATE AND BILE AND MORE UNDERSTANDING AND TOLERANCE.

I know neither party, so I don't know either side of the story. People need to realize there is THREE sides to the story. Her's,the person who shot her, and the truth. No one knows what was going on in each of thier minds.

Mommamarie, just because your husband is a co-worker, doesn't mean he knows the whole truth, he has heard what the husband wants to tell.

yes, there is a MAKE MY DAY LAW, however, there is also a WRONGFULL DEATH suit here,I do know about the law since I've recieved some training.Hopefully, this is something the family of Mrs.Nash will look into at a later date. This will guarantee that this murderer who shot his gun 9 times, THAT'S A FACT, will never own a gun again.Call me an idiot, however, I am an educated one. I am not the one trying to insult others with ignorance. My husband is a co-worker of Crystal's husband, so we do know a little bit.

A Jury should receive all the facts and everyone will get to state what really happened under oath. A fair trial will decide who is guilty. Meanwhile, Megan needs to go to school to learn proper grammar and how to type. I understand she is sad, but who is acting like an idiot here?

Ok you dumb .......Murder in First with premeditation is defined as planning to commit murder....how did he do that if he was in his home and she arrived with a gun? Isn't he defending himself? And how is it that you all can make up facts when you were not there? Let the Police do their job before you pass judgement. Maybe they want a tight case, maybe it is complete self defense, maybe it is manslaughter you all don't know the facts same as me! So shut the ^%^%^ up and wait for the entire facts to come out. Just from what I have read she called his bluff and lost, period. But I refuse to say until I read all the facts. Megan, mommamarie, nancee01 you all are just a bunch idiots who rather pass judgement without facts because you believe you know what happened when you don't. Show up at my house uninvited with a gun to harm or kill me or my family I guarantee your dead if I squeeze first, second, third, fourth and so on....enjoy your little pine box six feet under I'll give you a color choice brown, white or silver on your last breath.......

The Grand Valley is becoming the "Homicide Haven" of the Western Slope!
Time for peace loving people to stay out of this alcohol fueled and meth motored town!
And you politicians want to know why your sales tax revenues are down? Why shop in a place where you stand a chance of catching a case of premature death?
I'll suggest Mellow Montrose over that place.
