Arrest warrant issued in Utah ranger shooting
MOAB, Utah — An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in the shooting of a Utah park ranger.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Grand County sheriff’s office issued the warrant today for a man who has eluded searchers in the redrock canyons around Moab.
The sheriff’s office notified other police agencies today to be on the lookout for 40-year-old Lance Leeroy Arellano.
Authorities say Arellano was wounded in the shootout Friday with park ranger Brody Young.
The 34-year-old Young was wounded in the arm, leg and abdomen. His family says he remains in serious condition after weekend surgery.
Salt Lake City television station KSL-TV, reporting from Moab, says authorities searched caves, gullies and boulder fields around Caveman Ranch today but turned up no clues.
