AUGUST YARD OF THE MONTH
The August Yard of the Month winners are Terry and Carol Lofsvold.
Carol’s “mountain meadow” design at 3648 Bell Court has been evolving for the past 10 years. Carol likes the yard looking lush and blended native plants, perennials and annuals that provide an array of color from early spring until frost.
Her selection of a diverse number of plants also attracts bees, birds and butterflies. Nominal water usage and care are other essential characteristics of the Lofsvods’ landscape.
The Lofsvolds enjoy introducing and experimenting with new plant types that will thrive in the Grand Valley.
Yard of the Month is presented by the Grand Junction Forestry Board, The Daily Sentinel and the city of Grand Junction.
Nominations for September Yard of the Month are due Sept. 24.
To qualify for Yard of the Month, the yard must be within the Grand Junction city limits. The front/side yards — what can be viewed from the street — will be judged on appearance, tidiness as evidenced by pruned, trimmed and shaped foliage, defined lawn, borders, flower bed and visual appeal.
