BLM to hold meetings on Grand Junction-area plan

Five open houses in which residents can discuss the new draft resource management plan for the Grand Junction Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management will begin on Tuesday in Collbran.

A comment period on the management plan began Friday and ends April 25. The draft document can be viewed at http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/fo/gjfo/rmp/rmp.html. Comments also can be made at the website.

All open houses will be conducted between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. with short presentations scheduled at 5 and 6:30 p.m.

The meetings will be:

■ Tuesday in the Collbran Auditorium, 102 Main St.;

■ Wednesday in the De Beque Community Center, 381 Minter Ave., De Beque;

■ Thursday in the Clarion Inn, 755 Horizon Drive, Grand Junction;

■ Feb. 5; Gateway Community Center, 42700 Colorado Highway 141, Gateway; and

■ Feb. 7; Fruita Civic Center, 325 Aspen Ave.

Individuals may speak directly with members of the BLM staff at the open houses.

“We value public input and we encourage people to attend our open house meeting,” said Kathryn “Katie” Stevens, acting Grand Junction field manager. “Our meetings are designed so people can have an opportunity to interact directly with our staff on the specific subjects that interest them most.”
