Two rescued from river

A woman and man were rescued Tuesday after getting stranded on an island in the Colorado River in the area of 28 3/4 Road, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department.

Members of Mesa County Search and Rescue found the pair and brought them back to shore without a problem. The man and woman had been floating in the river with inner tubes but without life jackets, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Multiple violations alleged

Ross Allen Young, 24, 1829 Eel River Drive, Fortuna, Calif., was arrested Wednesday near the intersection of North Avenue and Sparn Street on suspicion of resisting arrest, obstructing an officer, several traffic violations and DUI, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Someone stole less than $1,000 in property from a person in the 2800 block of Orchard Avenue.

According to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Department:

A large amount of copper wire and brass fuel caps were stolen from the 400 block of West Main Street in Montrose on Tuesday.
