Local book signings planned
Local pastor and author Jim Hale will sign copies of his book, “An Alaskan Life of High Adventure,” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Powderhorn Mountain Resort.
“Through earthquakes, avalanches, bush-plane crashes and some miraculous escapes, the book follows the author’s life as a mountain guide in one of the country’s most desolate regions,” according to the author.
■ There will be a book-signing with Jeff Kildow, author of “America Under Attack,” from 2–4 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2451 Patterson Road.
Authors offer writing workshop
Authors Sandra Dorr and Linda Sheader will teach a writing workshop “Flash Fiction & the Essence of Story” from 1–4 p.m. Saturday at the Western Colorado Writers’ Forum, 800 Colorado Ave.
The workshop will teach writers “how to find a story’s essence through writing a ‘flash’ version,” according to a news release. Cost is $45 for nonmembers, $40 for members and $10 for Colorado Mesa University students.
