High school bands show their stuff for 2 days

The Grand Junction High School Marching Band horn section at the band fest competition

Strike up the band with the 31st annual Colorado West Marching Band Festival.

The festival offers two opportunities for the public to enjoy high school bands marching and performing while competing for awards.

Bands will first participate in the Oktoberfest parade beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, on Main Street.

The field show competition starts at 12:30 p.m. at Stocker Stadium. Bands are judged and awards given at 4 p.m.

Admission to the field show is $6 for adults and $4 for students and people ages 55 and older.
