Christian singer-comedian to appear
Mark Lowry is an internationally known Christian comedian, singer and songwriter.
Alan Kaiser is a chaplain at the Mesa County Jail with the nonprofit Good News Jail & Prison Ministry.
What do the two have in common?
They’re both religious and have been doing what they do for more than 25 years and on Sunday, Nov. 23,
Lowry is going to help Kaiser out a little.
Proceeds from Lowry’s tour stop in Grand Junction at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St., will benefit Kaiser’s ministry.
The Good News Jail & Prison Ministry is nondenominational and works with volunteers from Mesa County to provide religious services to jail inmates, according to an interview Kaiser did with The Daily Sentinel in March.
Lowry is traveling across the country sharing his “exciting and revitalized message of God’s love and grace,” according to his online biography at http://www.marklowry. com.
Pianist Stan Whitmire is traveling with Lowry on the Be the Miracle tour.
Lowry releases CDs and DVDs regularly. His recent works include CDs “Be the Miracle” (2008) and “I Love to Tell the Story” (2007).
Lowry’s song “Mary, Did you Know?” has been re-recorded by the likes of Kenny Rogers, Wynonna Judd, Natalie Cole, Donnie Osmond, Clay Aiken and others. You can find Lowry’s version on his 2004 Christmas CD.
