Buddy’s memory helps buy beds for homeless pets

Animals awaiting homes in local shelters could receive a comfortable pad to rest on through The Grand Valley Kennel Club’s community service project.

Sometimes good things come from the most tragic events.

After hearing the story of Buddy, the dog who was dragged to his death recently in Grand Junction, The Grand Valley Kennel Club and Canine Design were inspired to sponsor a community service project called “Pads 4 Pets—In Memory of Buddy.”

The clubs are asking for $10 donations for the pads that will be given to homeless animals currently living in local animal shelters. The comfort pads are handmade from fleece and provide a warm surface between the animal and the bottom of the kennel.

The donations will be collected through March 1. Checks should be made payable to the Grand Valley Kennel Club and donations can be made in honor of a pet.

Drop-off or mail donations to Canine Design, 329 S. Maple St., Fruita; Salon, Salon; The Pet Spa, 2509 Industrial Court; or GVKC, P.O. Box 1751, Grand Junction 81502.
