A trio of horses galloped down Patterson Road and into the Northridge subdivision on Jan. 21.

Daily Sentinel photographer Gretel Daugherty captured this photo of one of the horses eyeing Grand Junction police officer Matt Harmon. It’s an image that begs for a short witty or comical caption, which is where you come in.

Let creativity be your guide, and think up a caption for this photo. Enter that caption along with your name as a comment with this photo below.

The best captions submitted will be printed along with this photo on the March 6 Lifestyle page for your enjoyment.

Those with subscription, website access or registration questions should contact The Daily Sentinel’s circulation department at 242-1919.

We look forward to seeing your words.

Ok.  Let’s go over this one more time!  I start jumping rope.  As I approach you, you rear up on your hind legs, start jumping up and down, and, join me! We only need to do this once to set the World Record!

But officer, I just want a ride along.

Boy, when the chief said to expect more ride-alongs, I did not think this is what he meant.

“When the Sarg told me that he had a special patrol assignment for me, I thought he meant Boat Patrol or Bike Patrol.”

Now, look, horsey.  We can do this the easy way, or the hard way…. but either way you are going to jail.

Whoa I clocked you way over the speed limit so I’m going to rein you in.

“Trust Me”

I’m not going to horse around with you anymore. It’s going to be this rope or my tazer—you choose.

“Whoa there cowboy. I double-horse dare ya ta try that!”
Dale Clawson

“May I assume that you have never ridden a horse before?”
Dale Clawson

There are two points of view for this picture!
Officer-“Finally! Some good old-fashioned, RELIABLE transportation!”
Horse- “This ought to be interesting!!!”

Horse - “I don’t think so Scooter”

Cop - “You know of course, there is a new sheriff in town”

Horsey, Horsey, this is not a one horse town

Here horsey, horsey, come to daddy

Give me back my leg and we’ll talk.

David K. Foster

Here are some comments that we’ve received from partial-day subscribers via email:

“My mother told me a story about a talking horse named Mr. Ed. Are you related to Mr. Ed?” — Sonny Chiaro

“If I say pretty please???” — Rouene Brown

“You have the right to remain silent ...” — Bruce Bonar

“You try it on first, I want to see how it fits.” — Norman Shetley

Just what do you mean by “Wanted fugitive?”
Dale Clawson

“I hope you didn’t buy that horse-hair rope at the glue factory!”

Horse: “Harmon, drop the rope, step away from the vehicle”
