Central Arizona remains atop JUCO poll

Central Arizona College remains the top team in the in the National Junior College Athletic Association/Perfect Game USA baseball poll.

The Vaqueros (48-12) won the Region 1 championship to advance to the Western District tournament this weekend.

Grayson County (Texas) College (42-15) moved up five spots to No. 2 after winning the Southwestern District title and qualifying for the Alpine Bank Junior College World Series. Howard (Texas) College, which was eliminated by the Vikings, dropped down one spot to No. 3.

Former No. 1 Salt Lake (Utah) Community College (47-14) moved up to No. 4 and is playing in the Western District tournament against Central Arizona, No. 18 Lamar Community College and Yavapai (Ariz.) College.

Western Nevada College is No. 5, Southern District qualifier Navarro (Texas) College (42-17) is No. 6, Walters State (Tenn.) Community College (42-13) is No. 7, Gulf District champion Chipola (Fla.) College (39-2) is eighth, San Jacinto (Texas) College-North is ninth and Northwest Florida College is 10th.

Central District qualifier Seward County (Kan.) Community College is ranked 17th and Southern Union State (Ala.) Community College is 21st.
