Corvair to be featured in car club’s Colorado West Chapter Autofest 2010
See antique and modern cars, military vehicles, hot rods, tractors, trucks, motorcycles and more at AutoFest 2010.
The Colorado West Chapter of the Veteran Motor Car Club of America will host its 35th annual Father’s Day weekend car show Saturday and Sunday, June 19–20, at Lincoln Park.
AutoFest 2010 entries will compete in 21 classes for more than 60 judged trophies.
The public can get a sneak peak at the show Friday evening, June 18, as the cars cruise through town to Sonic Drive-In on North Avenue and Chick-Fil-A on U.S. Highway 6&50 beginning at 7 p.m.
AutoFest 2010 is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln Park. There also be music, food and merchant booths, displays, door prizes and a raffle.
The featured vehicle this year is the 1960–69 Chevrolet Corvair.
Admission is $5. Ages under 12 are free.
Colorado West Chapter of the veterans car club is an active antique car club started in Grand Junction in the early 1970s. The club has monthly tours during the summer, participates in parades and special events and visits assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
Members also are involved with several tours around the country coordinated by the national club. The club offers a scholarship fund, the Dean Rees Memorial Scholarship Fund, to western Colorado high school graduates interested in obtaining a college degree in auto restoration. Proceeds from AutoFest 2010 benefit Kids Aid, Ariel Clinical Services and the Colorado West Scholarship fund.
