Dine in the Blind event to raise awareness
The Center for Independence is challenging people “Dine in the Blind” and experience what it is like to live without vision, albeit for a short time.
The event will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the center, 740 Gunnison Ave.
The menu includes pasta, bread, cold sides and dessert. Those who attend will be blindfolded and led to dinner, where they will be told what is on their plate but won’t see it.
Event organizers want the event to be fun and informative, so there isn’t a requirement for people to leave the blindfold on the whole time.
Tickets to “Dine in the Blind” cost $13 in advance or $15 at the door.
Advance tickets are on sale at http://www.cfigj.org. Seating is limited.
You must be at least age 12 to attend the event.
There will be a cash bar and live auction, minus the blindfolds, and entertainment will be provided by Flat Top Reed and pianist Gary Sasser.
