ELN: More Republicans vote early in county
Republicans in Mesa County voted early in greater numbers than did their counterparts statewide, according to the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office.
Statewide, however, more Democrats cast ballots early than Republicans and unaffiliated voters.
Mesa County’s most recent early-turnout numbers don’t take into account turnout on Friday. Final early-turnout numbers are to be released Monday.
In Mesa County, 13,884 Republicans sent in mail-in ballots, and 5,838 cast early ballots, for a total of 19,722. Among Democrats, 8,094 voters mailed in ballots and 2,704 cast early ballots for a total of 10,798.
Among unaffiliated voters in Mesa County 7,437 mailed in ballots and 3,405 voted early, for a total of 10,882.
Statewide, more than 488,000 Democrats cast early ballots by either means, while just under 466,000 Republicans did the same. More than 336,000 unaffiliated voters also cast early ballots by one method or the other.
