Fried chicken heats up judges at Pork and Hops

Word to the wise for anyone looking to impress Tennessee resident and barbecue guru Arlie Bragg: Don’t fry chicken in a barbecue contest.

Bragg, who organized this year’s Colorado Pork and Hops Challenge on Saturday in Lincoln Park, did not take kindly to a contestant who, in apparent violation of contest rules, slapped chicken down on a frying pan and put the pan on a grill before offering it up to judges.

The offense earned disqualification.
