Marathon seminar Wednesday

A free training and injury prevention forum will be offered at 
6:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Bicycle Studio at 2497 Power Road, No. 4, for runners preparing for the Rim Rock Marathon

The marathon will take place Nov. 10 on Colorado National Monument. The forum will feature training advice from local physical therapist John Weirath and suggestions for avoiding the top five Rim Rock Marathon injuries from Bryce Christianson, a Grand Junction chiropractor and Active Release Techniques provider. John Constan, Shannon Koch and other prominent runners from the area will share their advice about long-distance running as well.

Madrid named to physicians board


Dr. Glenn Madrid of Grand Junction has been elected member-at-large for the Colorado Academy of Family Physicians.

The academy is a statewide primary care advocacy society that represents 2,000 physicians and medical students.

Madrid is one of six new members of the academy’s board. Other new officers are doctors Robert A. Brockmann of Englewood, Rick Budensiek of Greeley, Ryan Flint of Denver and Kajsa Harris of Pueblo.
