Wellness connection offers free screenings
The American Cancer Society recommends annual breast cancer screenings for women beginning at age 40.
The Women’s Wellness Connection provides free breast and cervical screenings for women at more than 120 locations in Colorado.
Low-income women between ages 40–64 with limited or no health insurance may qualify for the free tests. For information, visit http://www.womenswellnessconnection.org or call 1-866-951-9355.
Health businesses offering package
CrossFit Red and yoga: Vinyassa have teamed up to introduce a new unlimited fitness package.
CrossFit provides strength training and endurance, which creates a more powerful, dynamic yoga practice. Yoga opens and lengthens muscles, balancing out the tension of a CrossFit workout.
Screenings to be available at Sam’s
Free health screenings for cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure will be offered Jan. 9 at Sam’s Club, 1040 Independent Ave.
CIA Health Screening will perform the tests.

Telecommunication lab available
A learning lab offered through Western Slope Technical Assistance Center will be from 2:30–4:30 p.m. Jan. 14.
It will cover information about CapTel and telephone relay services.
The session, called “Telecommunication Technology beyond the TTY,” is being offered by Jim Sandstrum, an MA with a certificate of clinical competency-speech language pathology.
Another session 2:30–4:30 p.m. Jan. 20 will provide information on wheelchair seat cushions.
The interactive Web-based sessions will be at the Mesa County Workforce Center, 2897 North Ave., Modular 3A.
