HG: SustainAbility Column April 11, 2009
Although Earth Day is officially April 22, the Grand Valley will be celebrating on April 18 at the Mesa County Fairgrounds. The celebration is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free.
For the second year, the folks at High Noon Solar chose to spearhead efforts and sponsor the event. The result will be a day full of sustainable solutions combined with fresh entertainment.
You can even see the kickoff for a new local company called Whisper Sports, which offers completely electric vehicles.
Shop for a variety of sustainable products and learn more about alternative energy and recycling at the 50 booths.
Terry Sullivan at High Noon said there are a few more spots left for booths, so call Chloe at 241-0292 on Monday for your last chance to reserve a space.
A number of entertainers are donating their time at Earth Day including Flat Top Reed, Seventeenth Street Band, They, Solar Alignment, Sandy Lind and Khubsurat Ruh dance troupe.
Food and beverages will be available.
Be sure to plan for the unexpected as far as weather is concerned, as local Earth Day events have historically involved windy or rainy conditions.
