Holiday open house at Colorado National Monument
The Colorado National Monument will host its annual holiday open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday.
The Visitor’s Center is filled with unique gift ideas such as fleece jackets, winter hats, and tote back featuring the new 100 year logo.
Many of the new items are just in time for the kick-off of the monument’s centennial celebration in 2011 such as the new PBS documentary titled “Colorado National Monument: Celebrating 100 years of John Otto’s Dream.” There is also a new Centennial poster available for $4.95.
Just in time for holiday stocking stuffers, the monument is making the 2011 annual park pass available for $20. The new pass features the photography of Christopher Tomlinson, photo editor at The Daily Sentinel.
The open house will also debut the new hand-painted Christmas ornaments which make excellent Christmas gifts.
The exhibit gallery will feature the art of elementary, middle and high school students from Mesa County School District 51.
A special screening of the PBS documentary will take place at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days of the open house.
Entry fee will be charged at the gate. A seven day pass costs $7.
