Hunter missing on mesa

Mesa County Sheriff’s Department personnel and volunteers from its search and rescue teams will try again today to find a hunter who was reported missing Saturday in the Hightower Mountain area nearly 24 miles east of Collbran.

After a full day of searching, the effort was scaled back to a limited amount of volunteers overnight, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The missing 60-year-old man separated from hunting companions Saturday. A volunteer helicopter, Division of Wildlife employees and members of the Sheriff’s Posse will join the deputies and volunteers today.
