Interior designers may be regulated in Colorado
DENVER — Many states regulate interior designers, and Colorado could join them under a proposal up for a hearing in the state Legislature today.
The bill would create a registration program with education requirements for interior designers. The interior designers would have to be certified by the state and pay annual fees before calling themselves a “registered interior designer.”
Many states have similar requirements. Nothing in the Colorado bill prohibits people from calling themselves an “interior designer” — just a “registered” one.
Colorado’s bill also states that registered interior designers would not be permitted to work on construction of a building or its electrical, plumbing or heating systems.
