July Yard of the Month
Tucked away on 718 Pacific Drive is the home of Jan and Michael Peterson, whose yard was chosen as the July 2015 Yard of the Month.
The Petersons purchased the home four years ago, and their new yard consisted of rock-scape. They envisioned a landscape filled with a variety of plants, ornamental grasses and turf, and, in a labor of love, they amended the soil for the berms and selected blooming flowers that radiate color during all the seasons.
Jan Peterson loves delphiniums and has many gorgeous plants scattered throughout the yard.
The advice the Petersons would give others is to have patience and stick with maintaining your yard.
As the July Yard of the Month winners, the Petersons received a $100 donation for tree work from T4 Tree Service.
Yard of the Month is presented by the Grand Junction Forestry Board, The Daily Sentinel and the city of Grand Junction.
Nomination forms for the August Yard of the Month are due Aug. 24.
To qualify for Yard of Month, the yard must be within the Grand Junction city limits.
The front/side yards — what can be viewed from the street — will be judged on appearance, tidiness as evidenced by pruned, trimmed and shaped foliage, defined lawn, borders, flower bed and visual appeal.
