Junction man, 29, dead after interstate rollover

A man was killed early Saturday after his sport utility vehicle rolled on Interstate 70 near De Beque.

Vicente Lima Leon, 29, of Grand Junction, lost control of his Chevrolet Tahoe about two miles east of De Beque.

The SUV left the roadway and rolled, the Mesa County Coroner’s office said in a press release.

Leon was returning home from the Parachute area when the crash happened around 2:50 a.m.

Leon’s vehicle went off the right side of I-70, veered back on the roadway and rolled at least twice, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Leon was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
