Learn about Latin quinceanera traditions

A girl’s 15th birthday in some Latin societies is celebrated as a coming of age milestone, with roots deep in tradition and symbolism.

The public is invited to learn more about quincea&#241era traditions during “La Quincea&#241era: Share the Experience” from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Mesa County Libraries’ Central Library, 530 Grand Ave.

The program will share the history, tradition and symbolism of a quincea&#241era along with a display of items used in the celebration, food samples and a traditional cake.

Music will be performed and young women in their quincea&#241era dresses will be available for questions.

Call 243-4442 for more information.
