Fruita Fall Festival seeks grand marshal

The Alpine Bank Fruita Fall Festival is now accepting grand marshal nomination for the annual festival parade. Nominees should be living within the Fruita area who has contributed to the community. Business Incubator hosting social club

The Business Incubator will host the Friday Afternoon Social Club from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 25 to honor business and entrepreneurship at 2591 B 3/4 Road. Kitchen Incubator clients will offer sweet and savory treats, plus attendees will be entered to win a $300 knife set.

The Incubator will also welcome Terri Thomas, owner of Angels in the Making, a professional dog training and animal behavioral counseling business. For more information, call 243-5242.

Donate snacks, personal items for troops

Military Families of America is collecting snacks and personal care items to send to troops working in Iraq and Afghanistan. Items needed for the July care packages include candy, shampoo, instant coffee, soap, beef jerky, popcorn, toothpaste, and foot powder. Drop-off locations are at the Honey Baked Ham Store, 2464 U.S. Highway 6 & 50 in Grand Junction or at the Family Food Town Market, 112 W. Third St. in Palisade.

Local student honored recently

Nick Dietrich of Fruita graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a degree in psychology. He is a member of the Psi Chi Honorary Society of Psychology and the son of Thomas and Diane Dietrich of Grand Junction.
