Mark Memorial Day with a nature hike

Admit it: Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of the “Mom, I’m bored” season.

Delay those inevitable plaints of ennui by enjoying the free nature hikes and talks Friday through Monday at Rifle Falls, Rifle Gap and Harvey Gap state parks.

Park naturalists will guide you on “a journey of discovery” with guided hikes and activities.

You’ll see wildlife, wildflowers and maybe even wild bats, which are the best kind.

Events are free, but each car must have an annual or daily parks pass.

WHAT: Free natural hikes and talks during the three-day Memorial Day weekend

WHERE: Rifle Gap, Rifle Falls and Harvey Gap state parks.

WHEN: May 25–27, events scheduled for each day

HOW: For information, call Terry Wise, park naturalist, 970-625-1607.
