Nominations open for best yard in city
You’ve eyed that lush lawn and driven by those lovely roses thousands of times. Now you can take your admiration to another level.
Nominate that yard, be it your neighbor’s or your own, to be recognized as the Grand Junction Forestry Board’s Yard of the Month.
The first Yard of the Month recognition will be awarded in September. The nomination due date is Aug. 24 and the winning resident will be notified the second week of September.
The resident will receive a sign to post in their yard, a certificate and recognition on the city of Grand Junction’s website.
A photo and a description of the yard, including the address, will be printed in the Home & Garden pages of The Daily Sentinel.
To qualify for Yard of the Month, the yard must be within the Grand Junction city limits. The front/side yards — what can be viewed from the street — will be judged on overall appearance, tidiness as evidenced by pruned, trimmed and shaped foliage, defined lawn, borders, flower bed and visual appeal.
