'Six Ingredients or Less: Slow Cooker’

As much as I’m dreading the coming cold weather, it’s a good time to break out the Crock-Pot.

I am a 100 percent slow cooker rookie. I bought my first Crock-Pot last year and used it twice.

Searching for some cooking motivation, I picked up “Six Ingredients or Less: Slow Cooker” from Hastings for $14.95.

The cookbook written by Carlean Johnson offers all sorts of quick and easy classic slow cooker recipes such as beef stew, meatballs, baked beans and casseroles.

It also has some more unexpected things that can be cooked in a slow cooker: Mini Meatloaf for Two, Southwestern Quiche and Curried Chicken.

And yes, all of the recipes require only six ingredients or less. No well stocked kitchen required. Think salt and pepper.

I never realized how easy it was to make baked potatoes in a Crock-Pot before this. All you do is wash the potatoes, throw them in the cooker, and leave them in there on low for seven hours. Super easy.

So if you’re looking for more ways to use your slow cooker this winter, I suggest picking up a copy of “Six Ingredients or Less: Slow Cooker.”
