Paging Dr. Nurse

It may sound counterintuitive that a person can become a doctor of nursing, but people with doctorate degrees in nursing can actually help reduce the patient crunch for medical doctors.

And within a couple of years, folks should be able to pursue a doctorate degree in nursing at Mesa State College.

That’s great news for a Mesa State nursing program that has already developed a stellar reputation and attracts students from around the state and country. It’s another indication that the bustling college continues to grow and expand its educational offerings, along with the new buildings that have been constructed on the campus in the past few years.

The Colorado Commission on Higher Education gave formal approval last week to Mesa State’s plan to offer a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree, as well as a Masters of Science in Nursing degree. Classes related to the programs are expected to begin as early as next spring.

Congratulations. The new programs should help Mesa State College to remain a healthy institution.
