Bible school focuses on ‘Chronicles’

Vacation Bible school “Kingdom Chronicles,” for ages 5–11, will take place from 6–8 p.m. Aug. 4–8, at Calvary Bible Church, 629 27 1/2 Road.

Singer Kilpatrick to perform at Victory

 

Recording artist Bob Kilpatrick will sing and speak at the 
8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at Victory Life Church, 2066 U.S. Highway 6&50.

Kilpatrick has written many popular Christian songs, among them “Lord, Be Glorified,” “Here Am I, Send Me to the Nations,” and “Won by One.”

An offering will be received and free child care is available.

Emmaus potluck scheduled in Montrose

 

The public is invited to attend an Emmaus potluck dinner at 5:45 p.m. Thursday in Baldridge Hall of the Montrose United Methodist Church 19 S. Park Ave., in Montrose.

Emmaus is a three-day weekend retreat to develop disciples in the church and community.

Those attending dinner are also invited to attend a Taize service that will follow at 7 p.m. The service originated in 1940 in Taize, France and is a nondenominational meditative candlelit service combining music, scripture and prayer.

Monks to create mandala at monastery

 

Tibetan Monks from Gaden Shartse Monastery will be in Grand Junction Aug. 5-11 and will create a Mandala of Manjushri “Wisdom,” Aug. 8-11, at the Arts Center, 1803 N. Seventh St.

The monks will create the mandala from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8-10, and from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 11. A special ritual to bless and dissolve the sand will be performed at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 11. Admission is free, however donations will be accepted.

Other events on their schedule are:

■ Aug. 5: “Lamrim,” a teaching on The Graduated Path of Enlightenment, 8 p.m., Movement Therapies, 2232 N. Seventh St., Suite 8, suggested donation $15.

■ Aug. 6: “Chanting” and “The Inside Story: Images and Discussion of Tibetan Monastic Life,” 7:30 p.m., The Radio Room at KAFM 1310 Ute Ave., suggested donation $15.

■ Aug. 7: “Vajravidarin Healing,” removal of negativites and an offering for health and protection, 7:30 p.m. Koinonia Church, 730 25 Road, suggested donation $20.

■ Aug. 8: “A Journey to the Roof of the World: Sacred Dances and Chants of Tibet” 7:30 p.m., The Radio Room at KAFM, 1310 Ute Ave., suggested donation $15.

■ Aug. 9: “The Path of the Bodhisattva,” teaching on the awakening of compassion, 7:30 p.m., Movement Therapies, 2232 N. Seventh St., Suite 8, suggested donation $15.

■ Aug. 10: “Manjushri Empowerment,” a special blessing of wisdom to develop and increase your own inner wisdom, 7:30 p.m., Koinonia Church, 730 25 Road, suggested donation $20.

■ Aug. 11: “Dinner with Tibetan Monks and Lamas” at a private residence, $30. Call 260-1645 for dinner reservations.
