Flock invited to Victory Life anniversary

Victory Life Church, 2066 U.S. Highway 6&50, will celebrate its 90th year in the Grand Valley later this month.

The former Grand Junction First Assembly of God invites all those who have been part of the church in the past to join in the celebration and reunion, a news release said. Events will begin the evening of June 30 and will conclude with a picnic on the grounds, an outdoor concert, and a fireworks display on Sunday, July 2. All events are free. A complete schedule of events can be found at vlcgv.org/90th.

Former pastors Robert Strand, Calvin Durham, David Crowley, Phil Neely, and Ted Miller will all be in attendance during the weekend, as well as family representatives of six former pastors who have died. Former associate pastor Dary Northrop will emcee the beginning activity on Friday evening, June 30.

The Wesley Bell Ringers will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. June 24, at Montrose United Methodist Church, 19 S. Park Ave. in Montrose.

This is the 52nd annual summer concert tour for the bell ringing group, from Christ United Methodist Church in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Grand Mesa Christian Association is inviting former campers of the Baron Lake Camp in Cedaredge to attend the camp’s 100th anniversary celebration, happening July 8.

The camp has hosted many generations of campers since its founding in 1917. The anniversary celebration will include a 10 a.m. worship service and historical review and program. A hamburger cookout will be at noon and the afternoon will feature a number of traditional camp activities such as boating, volleyball and softball, crafts, singing of classic songs and more.

All ages are invited.

The Christ Center will host its third annual Fourth of July barbecue fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 3, at the Center, on the corner of 12th Street and Bookcliff Avenue.

The meat will be smoked by The Ribber Bar-B-Que Catering and orders should be placed in advance, before 6 p.m. June 29, at Four Winds Coffee and Tea, at the Christ Center location.

Cost is $23 for a whole rack of smoked spare ribs that feeds three to four people and $23 for a smoked pork shoulder roast, that feeds six to eight people. Proceeds will benefit the mission and ministry of the Christ Center, including mission scholarships.

The smoked meat can be picked up July 3, at Four Winds Coffee and Tea.
